Please! DO NOT go with this company!

I was paying $100 per month and that was to change my name on all of the search engines because I rebranded my company. If I took the time...this is something I could do myself...but, I thought ok...this is worth it...but how long could it take? Not 3 months! I went online to my account and after 3 months of being with them, noticed that I could not see any changes!!!

So...I called to cancel right away! The man on the other end of the phone said he would call me back. I thought this was very strange! 2 days later I received a call back and he said that the changes have been made and that if I were to cancel with them, the changes would go back to the way they were before!

I was appalled! So...let me get this straight!! The only way that the new rebranded name can stay is if I continue to pay $100 indefinitely? WTF???

Does anyone else see this is criminal? VERY BAD BUSINESS!!!

Reason of review: Not as described/ advertised.

Monetary Loss: $300.

Preferred solution: Full refund.

From the sounds of it, we were providing you a local search / business listing optimization type of service (typically paired with additional listing distribution, SEO, and user experience services).

Mainstreethost is a Certified Yext Partner (http://www.yext.com/en/partners/showcase/mainstreethost/) and we often leverage Yext's platform when conducting the types of services mentioned above. As you mentioned, one of the great advantages of this platform is the fact that we're able to rebrand a business, update critical local search information, ensure duplicate listings do not continue to surface, optimize listings, etc. at scale, quickly and efficiently so that business owners can focus on running their business and their customers aren't misled by false / outdated / incorrect business information. Yext has built some incredibly powerful and meaningful relationships with many of the data providers and local business directories to ensure what is fed through Yext is the "final say" on the many local business directories they "talk to".

This type of control isn't even guaranteed when updating these sites manually (not to mention it would take many, many hours to ensure complete accuracy across the board as you also mentioned in your review which is often something our customers just do not have).

To address your "$100 indefinitely" concern, there is a possibility that your old / outdated business information resurfaces after cancelling your Yext account. Upon completing your initial setup, Yext "locks" your business listings and takes complete control over them. Once this is shut off, it is then "unlocked" making it possible for data providers storing old information on your business to push that back out to the many business directories that exist. This is something that Mainstreethost has no control over, and is again one of the many advantages to managing your business location information through Yext.

There are instances where your new business information does "stick" but like most things SEO related, there are no guarantees. When Mainstreethost made the decision to partner with Yext, the time we were able to save our customers, guaranteed accuracy, premium content opportunities, and duplicate suppression features far outweighed the chance that a business' information might revert back to previously stored versions if/when the software was canceled. Also keep in mind that your $100 / month likely also included additional listing distribution, SEO, and user experience services. Hopefully this helps clear things up a little bit.

The 2 day gap between your initial call in and the call back you received is unacceptable and not at all how we aim to conduct business.
